I called her that morning and she sounded calm, she said her contractions were 8 minutes apart and she planned to labor at home as long as possible. When we spoke again that afternoon she excitedly told me in between contractions that they were on their way up to the hospital. Around 6pm I got the call that it was time for me to head up there. I walked in to find her in the throws of transitional labor and I knew it wouldn't be much longer. Supported by her husband and encouraged by her doula, she was able to birth her baby girl naturally into the world.
At just after 9pm Leighton Rae let out her very first cry.
The joy that swept over mom when she saw her daughter for the first time left me breathless.
I will never tire of photographing these precious little miracles. Looking forward to documenting this new little family for many years to come.
